Fui a Peru' hace tres semanas!

Ahora yo he regresada. I have returned, and resisted putting those phrases through google translate because I am a bit more sure of myself now en castellano o espanol.

In my jediknight304.livejournal.com blog I last mentioned Colca Valley. We descended into it one afternoon and back up the following morning. It was a 4 hour vertical hike out of that canyon if I remember correctly. In the deepest part, I spent a good memorable while jumping around on rocks in a ravine stream with Andrea and a rather excited stray dog who volunteered to hike with our group.

We spent a few days more in Arequipa after that where I took two final exams:

I then took a plane to St. Louis from Arequipa after collecting between 50 and 100 gigabytes of photos from everyone, that I can upload them this summer. I spent a good week at Principia College near St. Louis, fixing up the FreeGeek club, giving people Peruvian gifts, and organizing all my many "stuffs" for storage or transport over the summer.

This summer I'm working with the Office of Technology in the West Virginia State Government. So far I've followed some tech-ies around, learning how to run ticket systems and help people with a variety of typical problems. However, I may spend most of my time during this internship with network security, maybe close to this fellow: http://www.linkedin.com/in/cyberdefense
and if it works out, I'll get my name on a new BackTrack app for my perl (if not skills) zeal.

I'm also very satisfied now. I've had no reverse cultural shock coming back from Peru, even though I have some very American things headed my way. A new monitor by next week, and a new ISP with a faster 'interweb' as well. Before I even got home to West Virginia there was a new computer computer sitting at my house. These are a few things that I never saw in Peru, not to mention the return of toilet seats, and public toilet paper, so you could say I appreciate the highly comfortable state of living guaranteed to most job-ed american families.

I plan to spend the rest of my summer hiking around the Appalachian mountain forests, throwing LAN parties, and learning Esperanto and nCurses. nCureses stuff will probably find its way onto here: http://github.com/jediknight304

Oh! ..and make sure to check back in a week or two for those gigs of Peru photos.
